The Indiana sports betting market got another major boost as William Hill US announced the launch of their sportsbook app and website in the Hoosier State. The arrival of the British based betting giant brings the total number of online sportsbooks in Indiana to ten.
And while they are the latest it’s unlikely they will be the last to join the action.
Indiana Success
The addition of William Hill is the latest chapter in a clear success story for legal sport betting advocates. Indiana legalized sports betting on September 1st 2019 with the first online bets placed in October of the same year.
DraftKings and BetRivers were then the first gaming companies to enter the market. In the process they had to pass all the screening checks to satisfy the regulators. Having waited so long for legal sports betting, Indiana wanted to get it right.
Gaming Commission
As part of the agreement to make online sports betting legal, the Indiana Gaming Commission are the body responsible for oversight of this new sector. All gambling operators must go through a comprehensive vetting process before gaining their license to operate. The online sportsbooks are no exception to this rule.
The legislation requires that all Indiana online sportsbooks must partner with a local land-based casino. In this case William Hill has partnered with the Tropicana Hotel and Casino of Evansville.

Historic UK Bookmaker
Founded in London in 1934, William Hill is one of the most well known sports betting brands across the globe. The Indiana expansion is the most recent move in a larger strategy of mobile service rollout across the United States. The platform is already available online in Colorado, Illinois, Iowa, Nevada, New Jersey and West Virginia.
Interestingly, the William Hill app has established itself in some of these other regulated states like New Jersey as a genuine challenger to DraftKings and FanDuel. It features NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, college football and college basketball as well as all the other big sports US bettors demand.
It has also ensured depositing and withdrawing is as easy as possible by partnering with multiple payment processors.
Additionally, William Hill is enticing new players with what is arguably a market-leading promotional offer for new account registrations.
Competitive Market
When you see some of the other features on the app such as live score-casting and in-play betting it’s tempting to conclude that the arrival of William Hill is good news for Indiana sports fans but potentially bad news for the competition.
It seems clear as more states legalize and regulate sports betting that William Hill intends to establish a presence and compete for a slice of the rapidly expanding legal sports betting market across the country.
